AutoManager WorkFlow
News
Gone but not
forgotten!
AutoManager WorkFlow has reached its official end-of-life
with the closing of 2002. Thousands of users have already
migrated to AutoManager Meridian or AutoManager TeamWork. If you
are one of those who have not yet migrated, it's not too late!
All AutoManager WorkFlow licenses still have trade-in value
toward AutoManager TeamWork and AutoManager Meridian, so contact
us now. Existing users can still purchase additional
AutoManager WorkFlow 6.3 licenses in 2003, but the cost has been
raised by 33%. No additional fixes will be released, and only
support on usage and possible workarounds will be provided.

Synchronize
Drawing Title Block Info in Meridian Without AutoCAD
Perhaps the
most powerful new user tool available in AM-Meridian 2002 is the new
attribute exchange capability.
This new
feature allows attribute and reference data within AutoCAD drawings to be
stored in AM-Meridian. In the case of attribute data, bi-directionally.
The best news is that this capability does not require AutoCAD. Prior to
AM-Meridian 2002, attribute data could be exchanged with AM-Meridian, but
it required opening the drawing in AutoCAD to perform updates. Instead,
AM-Meridian 2002 uses Autodesk ObjectDBX technology to read directly from
and write directly to the DWG file, saving much time.
Three new commands are available in AM-Meridian 2002:
Synchronize Properties from file reads attribute values from
files into properties.
Synchronize Properties to file writes properties values into
attributes.
Synchronize References from file refreshes reference
relationships from within files.
The configuration of which AutoCAD attributes are linked to which
AM-Meridian properties must be set within the AutoManager Configurator
program before linking will occur. Property links can be Read Only, Write
Only, or Read-Write. Multiple title blocks can be linked using the same,
or different attributes, making support of legacy or consultant title
blocks possible.
The new PowerUser commands are in addition to the automatic data
exchange possible based on AM-Meridian events. AM-Meridian can read
attribute changes whenever:
- Documents are imported with the Database Import Wizard
- Documents are checked in with WebAccess
Attributes can be updated from AM-Meridian properties whenever:
- Documents move to a new state in work area or document workflow.
- A working copy is submitted or a Quick Change is released.
- A new document is created from a template.
- Documents are released from a work area.
The new Synchronize commands are intended to supplement the automatic
events so that you can maintain data links whenever necessary. To update
AM-Meridian from drawings, click Document>Synchronize>Properties
from file.

The
Synchronize commands on the Document menu
The
document's property pages and viewing window will refresh in
just a couple of seconds, AM-Meridian properties will be updated
from the AutoCAD title block attributes.

In addition to AutoCAD, the new application data links work
with Inventor, SolidWorks, and MS Office applications in much
the same way as described here. These application links can make
document creation, indexing, and searches a lot easier and more
accurate. |
