Technology Awarded Project to Upgrade Pacific Northwest National
Laboratory
Pacific
Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is one of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) multi-program national laboratories. PNNL delivers breakthrough science and technology to meet key national needs, with focus on environmental, energy, health, and national security objectives. The Battelle Memorial Institute has operated
PNNL for DOE and its predecessors since 1965.
The Facilities and Operations Directorate manages the laboratory's physical infrastructure. One aspect of that is to provide and maintain documentation supporting the facilities configuration management. This documentation includes drawings, procedures, building systems equipment vendor information, and engineering documents.
PNNL currently uses several systems,
including AM-WorkFlow, and manual processes to provide necessary EDM functionality. They
plan to pull these diverse systems and manual processes together into a single, automated
AM-Meridian system for heightened effectiveness and efficiency.

DataCore Up Close - Part 6 Get Ready...Get
Set.
by Steve
Canfield, Project Manager Our Project
Delivery Methodology is the guideline by which we execute our EDM
projects at DataCore. In this sixth of a series of articles
describing the entire process, Steve Canfield, our Project Manager,
describes the preparation steps leading up to deploying an EDM
system: legacy data migration, training materials preparation, the
pre-visit checklist, user acceptance test preparation, and the
Implementation Plan. If you are considering DataCore for an EDM
project, we encourage you to click here
to read the entire article.
Previous articles are also available for viewing at the following

Upcoming articles will discuss remaining phases in detail,
providing information on what tasks are included in each, how they
fit together and the benefits of each phase.
PowerUser
Tip Open PowerUser Faster to
the Documents You Need Last month's PowerUser Tip showed
you how to use AM-Meridian's Application Integration (now called the
Office Client) to quickly access your documents from within your
editing application without having to go through PowerUser. That's
great when you don't need PowerUser's advanced functionality, but
sometimes you need to perform tasks that only PowerUser can
perform.
The key to becoming a power user of AM-Meridian yourself (or any
other application, for that matter) is in knowing the fastest, most
direct way to accomplish any task. One way you can save time in
PowerUser is by quickly opening the application right to where you
need to be: the Main area, a work area, or your most recent
document. AM-Meridian can help you by creating shortcuts and
remembering your last document.
By default, PowerUser opens up to the Main area of your vault.
You can create a shortcut to this area by clicking Create
Shortcut to this Vault on the File menu.

PowerUser File Menu
AM-Meridian will place a shortcut icon on your desktop that will
open the selected vault to the area that was displayed when you
created the shortcut. Thus, you can create shortcuts on your desktop
to all of the work areas you use most often. Just open each work
area to the view you need and use the Create Shortcut to this
Vault command for each one.

Vault shortcuts created on the desktop
By
executing these shortcuts when you need to open PowerUser, you'll be
taken directly to the vault context represented by each one, saving
clicks and loading time.
If you
often work on the same document for long periods of time, you will
appreciate AM-Meridian's ability to remember your last selected
document. You can enable this feature by selecting the
Startup options on the General page of the
Options dialog as shown below.

PowerUser Options dialog
After setting these options, AM-Meridian will retain your last
selected document whenever you open PowerUser from a shortcut not
created by Create Shortcut to this Vault, such as from a
Start menu program group, or whenever you change views. Note
that executing one of the shortcuts created using the tip above will
override this setting. |
