Labs Reviews AM-TeamWork
If you don't subscribe to CADALYST magazine or somehow
missed the review of AM-TeamWork in the February, 2002 issue,
you'll want to catch up by reading the review by clicking
here.
CADALYST
Labs contributing editor Ron LaFon summarized his experience
with this:
"AutoManager
TeamWork is an innovative, well-designed, and highly useful (and
usable) application that manages the multitude of files
typically associated with workgroup production in an engineering
environment. It offers a high degree of compatibility with
Autodesk products, a clear upgrade path should the workgroup
continue to expand, and ease of administration. AutoManager
TeamWork is a good investment that will only grow in usefulness."

Up Close - Part 4
The
Design Phase -- Measure Twice, Cut Once
by
Steve Canfield, Project Manager
Our Project Delivery Methodology is the guideline by which
we execute all of our EDM projects at DataCore. In this fourth of
a series of articles describing the entire process, Steve
Canfield, our Project Manager, looks at the Design Phase of our projects, when we
transform the system and user
requirements of your IT project into a detailed, technical
design. If you are considering
DataCore for an EDM project, we encourage you to click
here to read the entire
article.
Previous articles are also available for viewing at the
following links:
Upcoming
articles will discuss remaining phases in detail, providing
information on what tasks are included in each, how they fit
together and the benefits of each phase.
PowerUser
Tip
The
Fastest Access to Your Documents
For the fastest access to your documents, try using
AM-Meridian's Application Integration. AM-Meridian allows you to
access your vaulted documents from within all Windows
applications, even bypassing the PowerUser.
The PowerUser is great (and required) for creating and
manipulating work areas, creating baselines and collections, and
using custom commands. But for everyday tasks like searching,
checking in and out files, editing properties, and opening files
for editing, you can do those things right from within your
active Windows applications without PowerUser. AM-Meridian's
Application Integration makes it easy.
For example, the figure below shows the AutoCAD Select File
dialog box. Notice the Application Integration vault icon
(highlighted) in the toolbar. You can select a file from your
local file system, your network file system, or click this icon
to open the Application Integration client and select a file
from an AM-Meridian vault.

From within the Application Integration client, you can
perform most common AM-Meridian tasks, including those listed
above and more.

Once you find a vault document you wish to edit,
double-clicking on the document's icon inside the Application
Integration client will give you the opportunity to open the
file either Read-Only (for reference or plotting) or to cause
Application Integration to create a working copy for you (check
out) and open the file in your waiting application.

The process works in reverse too, for saving new files in the
vault. Just start with your application's Save or Save As
command and choose the Application Integration vault icon that
appears there as well. If you choose to save the file as a
document type that employs a new document wizard, the wizard
will execute through Application Integration just as it would
have from within the PowerUser.
Using Application Integration with your Windows applications
effectively puts AM-Meridian's features right inside your
favorite programs, making your job easier and more
productive.
